29 Paranormal Romance Novels to Enjoy This Spooky Season
It is officially that time again! Spooky season is upon us. I have always loved Halloween, and it is honestly one of my favorite holidays. I love the movies, I love lore, I love the decorations--I just love everything about it. Which is kind of funny because I don’t like horror movies, so when I say I like the movies, I'm talking about The Nightmare Before Christmas and Halloweentown and Hocus Pocus.
I wanted to share with you some paranormal romance novels to read in these next few weeks of October to enjoy the spirit of Halloween. In all honesty, I have not read all the novels in this list because I haven’t had a lot of time to read lately, but I think all of these books sound amazing! I tried to find a variety of paranormal romance novels for this list. We’ve got shifters. We’ve got vampires. We’ve got mermaids, aliens, monsters, witches, angels, demons, fae, demigods, superheroes--I tried to find everything I could! I hope you find something you will enjoy among these options. If you find a book you're interested in, just click on the cover photo. Now, let’s get paranormal!
Speechless by Madeline Freeman (Unfortunate Souls Book 1)
A girl with a special ability. A secret mission. A discovery that will change everything.
Aria lives in two worlds. The first is the flooded ruins of Los Angeles, where she spends her days scavenging for long-forgotten treasures.
The second is the surface, where if people knew she could breathe under water, she would be shipped off to a detention facility for aberrations. Her only reprieve from reality is The Colonists, which live-streams the life of her longtime crush, Enrique.
When the opportunity to join the Colonists arises, Aria leaves everything behind to try for a life of adventure--and, perhaps, romance.
But the selection process is more perilous than she could have imagined and when her secret comes out, the real danger begins.
Once Bitten by Linsey Hall (Shadow Guild: The Rebel Book 1)
Vampires aren’t real, right?
People say I’m a weirdo. Sure, my idea of a party is a mini box of wine and hanging out with a feral raccoon, but it works for me.
When I’m accused of murder, things get crazy. One, I learn that I have magic. Two, there’s a secret magical city hidden right in London itself. And three, my only hope is a vampire who’s sexy as six and scary as the devil himself. He’s called the Devil of Darkvale, and he all but owns Guild City.
Some day I should just quit and turn myself in. Not a chance. I’m going to solve this murder myself, which means surviving in a new world of witch parties, magical guilds, and a vampire with a tortured past. The vampire and I are like colliding stars, and the heat is irresistible. I should avoid him, but if I want to save my own life, he’s my only hope.
Envy: A Genetically Modified Superhero Romance by Lana Pech (The Deadly Seven Book 2)
Deadly sin has consumed Cardinal City. Violence, murder, and mayhem are only the beginning. A family of genetically modified heroes is the city’s only hope… if only they can resist sin long enough, they just might stand a chance.
Disgraced hero Evan Lazarus punishes himself in the underground cage fighting scene. He blames himself for the tragedy that tore his family apart and left the city without its saviors. Traveling a dark path toward vengeance, if he’s not careful, he’ll become the evil he was created to fight. And then he meets her--a woman who embodies his sin’s opposing virtue. She’s smart, relentless, and electrifying… She’s everything he secretly craves.
Grace Go almost died in the blast that killed her parents and now seeks justice for the survivors. When her investigation crosses paths with a fiercely protective but damaged hero, she is intrigued. The more she sees him, the more he ignites a desire she thought long gone, and the easier it is to stay ignorant to be secret that could ruin her opinion of him forever.
When a figure from Evan’s past emerges, in league with the evil Syndicate, their scheme threatens to destroy everything he holds dear. Pushed to the limits, he will have to pull his family from the brink of oblivion and become the hero the city needs... or will envy drive him to destroy Grace and his only chance at love and redemption forever?
Wicked Wings by Elizabeth Briggs (Seraphim Academy 1)
They think I’m half angel and half human. They think I have no magic. They think because I grew up in the human world I’m clueless about what to expect at Seraphim Academy.
I’m not half human, I’m half demon — and this little succubus has come to play.
My brother vanished from Seraphim Academy without a trace, and I’ll do whatever it takes to find him, including infiltrating the school myself.
Even if it means going up against my brother’s best friends, who know something about his disappearance and aren’t talking. They may be angel royalty, but if they think they can intimidate me into leaving the school, they’re wrong.
There’s also the problem of the delicious professor who knows my secret. He’s hiding something too, and I’m going to find out what it is.
But I’ll have to be careful, because if anyone finds out I’m part demon? I won’t just get kicked out of Seraphim Academy — I’ll be dead.
*Seraphim Academy is a college-age angel/demon romance with all characters 21+ and plenty of heat!*
Shadow Rider by Christine Feehan (A Shadow Riders Novel Book 1)
Whether it’s fast cars or fast women, Stefano Ferraro gets what he wants. When he’s not fodder for the paparazzi, he commands Ferraro family businesses—both legitimate and illegitimate.

With little left to her name, Francesca Cappello has come to Chicago in hopes of a new life. She wasn’t expecting to attract the attention of a man with primal hunger in his eyes, driven to claim her as his to protect and to please. And if he discovers her secret, it could ruin her…
Upended Life by Erin R. Flynn (Artemis University Book 1)
My name is Tamsin Vale and my life is about to get real… Really complicated and ridiculously dangerous. Which is almost funny given at nineteen I already know too much of the darkness of the world and people, the secrets they keep.
Or so I thought.
Turns out those quirky abilities I’ve been keeping secret expose me to a world I didn’t know existed. Sure, I knew I wasn’t human—but how exactly do I find out more without ending up in the wrong hands?
And I’m not so sure I’m in the right hands now given some of the reactions to finding me. They say I’m the last fairy. I’m not sure I should trust them when their thoughts are mostly of power and how to use me.
But I’m also not sure I have much of a choice. My powers are dangerous and I don’t know how to use them. They promise to teach me what I need to know and give me a chance at something I’ve never had before.
A normal life. I don’t think anything about Artemis University and those who attend is normal, but it’s still better than the life I’ve been living if they keep half their promises.
I think hoping they’ll keep half is generous.
Artemis University is a hot burning reverse harem, university-age paranormal academy series with darker elements, strong language, violence, and a heroine who follows her own moral compass of what is right… And who she ends up giving her heart to. (This is a six-book series all featuring Tamsin Vale as the heroine.)
Awaken by Skye Malone (Awakened Fate Book 1)
Dive into an underwater world of ancient secrets, dark magic, and love that will risk it all...

She only wanted a vacation, someplace far from her crazy parents and their irrational fear of water. She only wanted to do something normal for once, and maybe get to know her best friend's hot stepbrother a bit better at the same time.
But the first day she goes out on the ocean, strange things start to happen. Dangerous things that should be impossible. Things to which 'normal' doesn't even begin to apply.
Now madmen are hunting her. A mysterious guy with glowing blue eyes is following her. And her best friend's stepbrother seems to be hiding secrets all his own.
It was supposed to be a vacation. It's turning out to be a whole lot more.
For the Hell of It by Cate Corvin (Razing Hell Book 1)

Magic Forged by K. M. Shea (Hall of Blood and Mercy Book 1)
I'm one scrappy wizard.
As someone with barely a flicker of magic, I've spent my life being mocked and surviving fights with bullies. But when my parents die in an accident, and I find myself responsible for our whole wizard house and family, I know my usual tactics aren't going to cut it.
The situation veers from bad to catastrophic when my backstabbing cousin stages a coup and takes my family hostage.
I barely manage to flee, but the only supernatural willing to help me is Killian Drake--the most feared vampire in the region, and a far more deadly villain than the jerk threatening my family.
Is Killian sexy and charismatic? Heck yeah.
He's also so powerful that my flight or fight instincts kick in every time our eyes meet. And he's definitely using me as his personal magic detector in his feud against the local fae.
But Killian is also the first person to believe I might have more than just a scrap of magic. And if I can convince him to train me, I might get strong enough to free my family and get my house back.
I'm not sure what happens when a scrappy wizard is taught how to fight by a hall of deadly vampires, but I'm about to find out.
